Coming Soon...SchoolAI 2.0!

Updated: May 23

TL;DR: If you want a chance to play with the brand new, redesigned SchoolAI before it is officially released, join the waitlist!

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of SchoolAI. I've spent a lot of time writing about it and sharing ideas. I didn't think I could get any more excited...but I was wrong. I recently had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at the new features coming this summer and next school year. My mind was blown! Take a look at this video that demonstrates just a taste of what is to come:

The biggest change is "Dot", the AI assistant that helps you navigate through SchoolAI. One of the bigger concerns I get from teachers using SchoolAI has always been that it is a bit confusing to figure out where to go. Which assistant do I use? Should I use tools instead? What do you mean I have to go back and forth between an assistant and a Space if I need help creating one? How am I supposed to navigate through all these great teacher-created Spaces?

These are all valid questions that have all been answered with the addition of Dot. Tell Dot that you want to create a rubric and Dot will direct you to a rubric generator. Then Dot will stay on the side of the website for you to ask questions as you create the rubric.

My favorite new feature is the "Power-Ups". Power-ups have basically replaced the "Tools" tab in the current website. Teachers can use them to create a ton of different things...not just text-based options anymore. Take a look at the 30 second mark in that video and you will see all the options. These can also be added to Spaces to make them more interactive for students. No more simple typing to a chatbot. Students can generate images, run physics simulations, and even create video games with code. I also saw quite a few math related options. And even better...students get Dot too, so while they are working in these power-ups, they can ask questions to Dot! I can't wait to see how power-ups are going to change the game for math, science, and other subjects that are not text-focused.

The last new thing I will mention is "Agendas". Agendas are basically multi-step Spaces. So imagine you are an English teacher who wants your students to write an essay, but you want to break it into steps. Maybe they start with developing a thesis statement, then they create a graphic organizer/mind map, then they create an outline, then they write a draft. With Agendas, you can build each one of those steps. As the student completes each step, they will move to the next. And with power-ups? They can have a doodle board to draw out that graphic organizer!

All of these features are coming for next school year, but I personally want to jump in and start playing around right now! If you're like me, join the SchoolAI 2.0 Waitlist and you might have a chance to get access as early as mid-June.
