Exploring SchoolAI Spaces

I've written about and talked about SchoolAI and its tools, assistants, and Spaces a few times. I continue to believe that SchoolAI is the best educational AI tool available, and the biggest reason is because of their Spaces feature. As I discussed in a post last school year, Spaces are essentially customized chatbots that interact with your students in a fully controlled environment. As a teacher, you will always get a transcript of the students' conversations with the chatbot and you can even view the chats in real time. If you want a quick idea of what Spaces look like for students, try out this fun one that will tell you which Bluey character you are! Don't forget...I can see your transcript!

If you haven't yet dived into Spaces - don't be scared! A great way to start is to just use one that someone has already created. You can always access Spaces developed by SchoolAI or other teachers through the "Discover" tab on the SchoolAI website, but I also took some time over the summer to hunt for Spaces that I thought might be beneficial to high school teachers in each department. Check out this page on our AI in Londonderry site to filter by your own department and explore Spaces that might work for you right out of the box!

Demonstration of SchoolAI Space lists by department

If you find one you like, go ahead and click to open it in SchoolAI. Then you can click the "Launch" button. From there, you can opt to get a Space code/link or post to Google Classroom.

Invite your Students by Space Code or Add to Google Classroom

For now, I find it easier to choose the "Use a Space Code" button and then copy and paste the link into Google Classroom. It requires a few extra steps to set up the integration between SchoolAI and Google Classroom, so copying and pasting the link is more efficient.

Once you have shared the link with your students and they begin interacting, your Dashboard will start filling up with names and transcripts! Just click on the student's name to see their full transcript on the right sidebar.

If you haven't yet explored SchoolAI Spaces...this is a great place to start. Find one that is already made, launch it, and share it with your students. Once you get comfortable with that, you can learn about how to edit existing Spaces or even make your own from scratch!
