THIS WEEK IN DIGITAL LEARNING

FINALLY! Print Directly From Canva!!

Working in a high school library, one of the most common questions we get is "how do I print from Canva?" We get this question at least once a day and when there are big projects due, we hear it much more frequently. We then go through the process...first click share, then click download, then choose PDF Print, then open it, then hit print, then check your printer settings to make sure it isn't going to get cut off. Every time we do it, we think...why why WHY won't Canva add the ability to print directly in the tool??

Well guess what? It's finally here!! Canva launched a bunch of new features earlier this month, and as cool as some of them sounded, it was this simple printing option hidden near the bottom of the launches that made me most excited.

*Disclaimer - as of this moment, the feature is only showing up for teacher accounts, not student accounts...but it should be coming soon for students!

Let's check it out...you have two options. The first is to use the Share button you're used to. For now, you'll have to click "See All" and then scroll down to or search for "Use my printer":

This will open up your print dialog for you to choose your printer and settings. Much quicker, but still a few clicks to get there.

The better option is to use the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl+P (⌘+P on Mac). The first time you use Ctrl+P/⌘+P, you will see this window:

How would you like to print dialog box

If you want the keyboard shortcut to always go directly to your print dialog box and skip this window, click the "Remember my choice" box and then click continue. Now every time you use the keyboard shortcut, Canva will just skip right to choosing the printer and settings!

That's it...best new feature. Mic drop! 🎤
