This week, our students are beginning their course selection process for next year. Since I don't want you all to feel left out, I am going to highlight some professional development courses that are available to you for free from Google to help you learn more about the Google Workspace tools and how they can be used to enhance your teaching and your students' learning. Google offers an entire set of Training Courses for everyone from complete novices to advanced users. You can certainly browse through everything, but I will highlight some here for you!

Beginner

13 Units, 15 Hours

This course covers just about every Google tool at an introductory level with an emphasis on how teachers can use the tools in their classrooms. After you complete this course, you will be prepared to take the Level 1 Google Certified Educator exam! (You can take the course for free without taking the exam - the exam costs $10.)

Beginner

1 Unit, 2.5 Hours

In depth with Google Classroom from the basics to more advanced features and suggestions for how to use the tool more effectively to save yourself time and energy.

Beginner

3 Units, 2 Hours

A course designed for teachers OR students to learn about how to be safe and secure online. This includes focusing on your digital footprint, being aware of scams/phishing, and learning how to analyze the legitimacy of online sources.

Beginner

1 Unit, 4 Hours

An introduction to a variety of digital tools that can help increase student engagement and encourage students to think and work creatively. It also covers student voice, project based learning, and social emotional learning.

Beginner

3 Units, 2.5 Hours

This course highlights tools and strategies to help you work with students (or families) whose first language is not English. This goes beyond simply "use Google Translate" and really focuses on how to provide your ELL students with an immersive experience within your curriculum, your classroom environment, and the school as a whole.

As I mentioned, you can find more courses as well as training videos at the Training Courses page of Google for Education. Happy Learning!
