MagicSchool is not a new tool - it was actually first released way back in March of 2023. But here in Londonderry, we were not able to use it because there was only a signed data privacy agreement for paid accounts, not free ones. Now that has changed, so now we get to dive into all the amazing tools that it has to offer...and BOY does it have tools!!

The very first tool up there - Raina - is just a standard chatbot to help you with anything in a conversational way. For most of the rest, you will be asked to fill in some fields with more information. So if you want to create a lesson plan for your 10th grade US History class focused on the Space Race, you can head into the Lesson Plan tool and enter as much or as little information as you want.
Here's an example of putting in the least amount of information possible:

And here is what I get for a lesson. Not bad for typing in three words!
For comparison, here is a much more detailed and focused prompt:

And here is the result. Interestingly, it is quite similar to the one where I only wrote 3 words, but it does adjust some of the content to match the student description section.
All of the content can be exported to Word or Google Drive for easy editing as needed. There are also plenty of fun tools like Teacher Jokes (think Dad Jokes, but with your content area) and Song Generator (imagine a song about meiosis and mitosis to the tune of the latest Taylor Swift song).
As with most other AI tools, MagicSchool does save all of your history in the "Output History" tab, so you can always go back to find anything you generated in the past.
The giant list of tools can definitely be overwhelming, so make sure to consider favoriting your most used tools so you can filter them out. You can also create your own "collections" or categories (My Collections in the sidebar) to organize the tools for yourself:

MagicSchool also has some amazing ways to get students involved with these same tools...but we'll save that for another day. For now, go check out the tools that jump out at you and see what you can create to save yourself time!
